PICTURES OF PAIN

Russia’s war against Ukraine determines our reality, the news and media images of our days and the imagination of the consequences of this war for people. They are images of pain – on the screens and in our heads. The current changes after decades of inner-European peace (even if this term often meant “Cold War” and left out civil wars) gave us reason to look at such images in the œuvre of Andreas Felger, whose fundamentally positive perception of the world determines many of his works, which thematise conflicts, pain and suffering.
