ANDREAS FELGER. A theatre curtain

Exhibition of the theatre curtain by Andreas Felger in the Christ Pavilion in the Thuringian monastery of Volkenroda
30 August to 31 October 2025
Andreas Felger turned ninety years old on 1 January 2025

An occasion for companions, friends of his art and anyone interested in discovering his work to celebrate the artist and his oeuvre! For an entire year, facets of the extensive and multi-layered art of the painter, graphic artist and sculptor from Mössingen-Belsen will be on display. You can find an overview of the programme here.

he Volkenroda Christ Pavilion is an extraordinary building that was realised after EXPO 2000 in Hanover as a joint church building of the Protestant and Catholic churches in the former Thuringian Cistercian monastery of Volkenroda (founded in 1131). On the occasion of this conversion of the Christ Pavilion (built by von Gerkan, Marg and Partners), Andreas Felger designed the transition between the large, central church space (25 x 25 x 18 m) and the modern cloister surrounding it (70 x 30 x 6.8 m) with nine cube-shaped rooms, the so-called CHAMBERS in 2001.

We present Andreas Felger’s design for a theatre curtain commissioned by the Berlin theatre director and actor Marcel Kohler, which premiered in May 2025 in the Bogenhalle at PAUSA in Mössingen.

The vernissage will take place on Saturday, 30 August 2025 at 7 pm with a musical and literary exploration NIRGENDLAND – by and with Etta Scollo und Corinna Harfouch and others.
