Glass art is also part of Andreas Felger’s wide-ranging oeuvre. Predominantly conceived as windows for church and devotional spaces, his works of coloured glass usually are firmly integrated into architectural spaces. Their elaborate design and production process is coordinated with the artist at every step.

The stained glass windows are often part of a larger ensemble of space-related works of applied art that interact in their various facets. With the KUNST.STATIONEN, the Andreas Felger Kulturstiftung documented for the first time a selection of site-specific works for Baden W\u00fcrttemberg in 2016.<\/p>\n

In some of these groups of works, for example in the Evangelical Church of Reconciliation in Schorndorf, Felger shows the whole spectrum of his glass window art. The works combine opposites, they are small- as well as large-scale, abstract and figurative, static and dynamic \u2013 the brilliant play with light, the transparency of the material forms a multi-layered spatial composition.<\/p>\n

Light is not only the central medium of glass art, but also an essential theme in Felger’s art. The search for transcendence, the striving to overcome the heaviness of everything material, the transformation of the physical into the spiritual that points (not only in the Christian sense) to a heavenly dimension \u2013 all this is symbolised and at the same time visualized in the windows.<\/p>\n
